Pitted Keratolysis

Pitted Keratolysis is a common term for a group of the superficial skin infections, which involves keratin layer.  Plantar surfaces are usually affected. The typical features of Pitted Keratolysis are crater-like skin lesions and frequent maceration of skin related to hyperhidrosis. Pitted Keratolysis is caused by Corynebacterium species, Actinomyces  or Micrococcus.
